It’s a Small World
May 20, 2021It’s Certainly Uncertain
July 26, 2022Nature versus nurture - a big talking point in modern day psychology and ethics. Which side prevails over the other has been long discussed, and I have thought about it often as well.
I always wondered if I would see tangible evidence of how both aspects combine to impact a personality or situation. What happens when you encounter something with ‘the nature to nurture’? I found my answer here at GadflyZone.
As my first venture into the job world after college, I reckon I could not have found a place more nurturing than GadflyZone. From what I have heard from peers about ‘the job life’ and seen in the monday-dread memes, I could not relate to most of it. Here, I found people with the innate nature to create an environment for nurture. Whether it is about customer interactions, problem-solving, intense tech research, sharing travel experiences or what is the best kind of coffee to have - there was a grand buffet of learnings at my disposal. There are so many things I did not know but have now been exposed to through the interests of teammates and their enthusiasm to share.
Everyone is only human, and GadflyZone believes in giving us the support when we need it, and time whenever we ask for it. In this nurturing habitat, you see people grow, become better than they were yesterday. That process is tangible through the many conversations and interactions within and outside our work. My hope is to extend this GadflyZone nature to others I meet.
Well, immediately that would be the two new travelers joining us on this journey. It is my pleasure to extend a very warm welcome to them.
Suddha Swatta Roy joins us after a stellar academic record during his masters in Materials Science and Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, a record maintained through all his years pursuing education. His abundant knowledge in solar energy technologies and other materials will help him hit the ground running in our team. A kind soul at heart, he has volunteered in a Complete Voluntary Organisation (CVO) where he organized reliefs while working closely with the finance section. Besides being highly accomplished in academia with many awards, his multi-talented self has acquired a Junior Diploma in Indian Classical Music (Vocal) from Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad with distinction. An avid lover of movies, especially those directed by Satyajit Ray, he has also participated in drama activities. His wide range of qualifications and skills will surely add to the platter of the learnings GadflyZone has to offer.
Our other new teammate, Abhishek Awasthi, has a long roster of capabilities to his name as well. A masters graduate from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium, Abhishek started his pursuit of chemical engineering via a bachelor's degree in Vellore Institute of Technology. Seeking out experience in the field, he has previously worked with Honeywell and interned at Robert Bosch. He loves problem solving, a trait which is the core to what we do at GadflyZone. Playing basketball and volleyball are his favorites. Besides sports he enjoys intellectual pursuits as well such as literature - currently obsessed with Vonnegut, politics, and is an amateur film critic avidly seeking out obscure movies. We are thrilled about him bringing his robust experience in process control, modelling & simulation, and programming along with his multifaceted self into the team.
